Morgantown Tummy Tuck

Morgantown Tummy TuckMany Morgantown tummy tuck patients have reduced their protruding stomachs under the knife of Robert Carpenter, M.D., a board certified plastic surgeon at Allegany Plastic Surgery in Cumberland, Maryland.

Known as an abdominoplasty to plastic surgeons, a tummy tuck takes care of three problem areas on the stomach, including:

Excess skin
This may include wrinkled or hanging, lax skin.
The fatty layer under the skin
Depending on the case, the layer of fat just under the skin can be removed surgically or greatly reduced with liposuction.
The muscles of the abdominal wall
Pregnancy often forces the two vertical bands of muscles apart. The muscles can be sewn back together during the tummy tuck to narrow the waistline and flatten the abdomen.

Of course, every procedure is unique because every patient is unique. Dr. Carpenter studies and evaluates your case and makes sure the incisions are placed within the "bikini line" so the post-op scars are hidden by underclothing or bathing suits.

Dr. Carpenter is also expert in the mini-tummy tuck in which only skin needs to be removed. Usually, women are typical candidates for the procedure; however, some men with a fatty roll on the lower abdomen choose to undergo the operation.

What Will I Feel Like After the Operation, Doctor?

Recovery times vary depending on the degree of surgery, usually ranging from one half to a full month to return to work while a return to strenuous exercise requires a time out, ranging from one month to six weeks.
