To start a breast augmentation, very small incisions are made in:
- the crease of skin at the bottom of the breast
- the armpit
- the areola (the dark circle of skin surrounding the nipple)
Dr. Carpenter is also qualified to work through a small incision in the belly button to enlarge the breasts. That approach requires special surgical tools, knowledge and training.
Implants are inserted under or over the chest muscles. After healing, patients then have larger, more natural looking breasts. Often, patients will have breast augmentation performed with a tummy tuck, for a total abdominal revision.
